Lower Mountain Fork River

The beautiful Mountain Fork River feeds into and out of Broken Bow Lake. This clear, winding river is perfect for canoeing, kayaking, and tubing adventures. The 18.8 miles of the Lower Mountain Fork is described by many as the "consistently flowing and best whitewater stream" in Oklahoma. Canoers and kayakers enjoy Class I and Class II rapids along with waterfalls including Presbyterian Falls with a four-foot drop. The river is lined with Bald Cypress trees that can also be seen growing in the river. Water releases from the Broken Bow dam also provide the perfect cool habitat for trout fishing. In 2008, a 17-pound Brown Trout was caught by an angler in the river. Canoe outfitters and trout fishing guides are available in the area.
